Beryl
Court
This Texas quartet produces an eclectic mix of rocking
electric riffs offset by gentle acoustics, tight harmony, driving bass lines and lyrics that speak to the highs and lows of
real life friendships, break-ups, loves and heartbreaks. The founding members
of the band include Tristan Bugenis (bass /acoustic guitar/vocals) and Matthew Hackney (drums/percussion/vocals). They
let Alexander Buxton (lead guitar/vocals) join in 'cause he was Tristan's cousin and they felt sorry for him...that
and he totally rocks his axe. Thomas "Taco" Canto (guitar/bass/vocals) entered the picture bringing the talent
to move between genres and instruments with the occasional foray behind the drums, blowing a sax and banging the keyboard.

Roots Like marriage, the best bands start as friendships. For these guys, it began on the ball
field. Tristan and Matt met in the summer of 2001 in Little League baseball. Matt was an old-timer on the team and Tristan
had signed up for fun. Matt said he had heard they were getting some kind of hot shot and he was prepared to hate him but
instead Tristan won him over. In
their freshman year of high school, they formed a band, Stealing Third that lasted about a year. They later joined up with
another high school friend and the band took the name Silent Pulse. Practices were all-nighters at Tristan’s house – mostly ‘cause his dad
is a musician and had the room set up. It was great times blending band practice with PS2, whiffle ball, touch (yeah, right)
football, and street basketball. (When the little neighborhood kids started knocking on the door to ask them to come out and
play, you had to wonder which activity got the most attention!) This background indirectly formed the dichotomy of the band – practice until 10 pm (9 on weekdays)
was all electric but after curfew, the acoustic instruments came out. Tristan would sit around strumming the guitar and
Matt joined in with harmonies. As the
guys grew in their musical abilities and began to better define their individual sound, they decided to go back to the beginning
and recognize the place where it all began. In the late fall of 2005, Beryl Court debuted. In the summer of 2008, since he was hanging around a lot anyway and because
he plays kick-ass guitar, the band asked Tristan's cousin, Alex to join the band. Alex doesn't know anything about playing
baseball but he can make ya go "HELL YEAH!" after a sick riff. More changes came about in 2010 as Thomas Canto jumped in with both feet. He made his stage debut in Feb,
2010 but you could not tell as he rocked and headbanged with the best of them. Thomas doesn't know much about baseball either
but volunteered to catch when they want to spend time on the field.

The
Creative Process The band writes their
own songs as well as putting their own spin on popular tunes when covering Third Eye Blind, The Foo Fighters, Oasis, Vertical
Horizon, The Fags, and many other alternative bands. They have recently branched out into other rock covers including Pink
Floyd, Police, Doobie Brothers, Journey among others. Original tunes evolve as these four pool
their talents and interests to produce one great sound. The harder rock songs produced by the band usually start with Alex
who slams guitar licks to kick out driving tunes. Tristan guides the gentler sounds writing strictly from an acoustic guitar. Matt
pulls it all together penning many of the lyrics and creating the harmony that gives Beryl Court their distinctive sound. Taco
also writes and the group will continue to collaborate to produce a sound that blends the involvement of each person
to make a whole.
