In the Band
Matt bangs on the drums....and in fact took up the drums because he didn't play another
instrument and he wanted to be in a band.... Matt sings lead on some songs and throws in harmony all over the place.
Matt is
responsible for writing the lyrics to many of the bands popular originals including Shadows, Over-Rated, About Nothing, Your
Name Here, Second Chance and others. Combined with the musical efforts of Tristan Bugenis, his lyrics are formed
into many of Beryl Court’s original songs. Matt's tenor takes care of singing the higher notes and writing
much of the band’s harmony. With a background in singing, he has a wide understanding of music, melodies and harmonies.
Matt enjoys writing slower ballads, energetic pop rock tunes, and standard alternative lyrics.
He likes to play to harder, faster music, and with a lot of performing experience,
he loves being on stage with his band mates in front of large crowds. Matt enjoys the acoustic music of the band
playing the bongos as well.
Out in the World
Matt graduated from Texas Tech University in 2009 with a business degree. He is a working
stiff now and has to wear a suit to work and everything.
Matt graduated from Lamar High School. He met up with Tristan in the summer
before high school started and they found themselves in many classes together between baseball and choir. The two of them
started a band and despite several changes have been together ever since
Matt's parents, Keith and Mary make their home in Arlington with his little sister, Kayce.
In his spare time, Matt enjoys watching baseball, writing short stories and screenplays, fighting
the good fight on the playstation although he flails around on the Wii as well, and spending time with his friends, family
and most of all, his band mates.
